The biggest structure ever moved
6/1/2009 external link
I watched a programme on National Geographic last night about how they moved the Troll A North Sea Gas drilling platform into place after it was built. They claimed it was (at the time) the largest structure ever moved, but I think that move was made in the early 90's.Martin.
yes i think i have seen this one... the most interesting i ever saw was a complete colony of houses were shifted to some other place coz the mining industry needed the place..
Driving through CA and selling my 4Runner in Panama City...
6/1/2009 external link
well: this is my assumption from my own experience but people try to sell their cars in Panama because they have time limitations for the road trip (shipping the car back is quite expensive). Therefore it makes sense to take several weeks one way and then get the rid off the car..

Exotic Food in Asia
Cod sperm in Japan. They call it "Shirako" and it is quite expensive apparently. Once was enough for me thank you!
Never heard of that kind of food, though I find it interesting. The only exotic food that I know in Japan are Fugu and Kobe beef(kobe beef is very expensive and very high quality)....
Mexico, a 3rd world or mixture of 1st world and 3rd world?
6/1/2009 external link
interesting post.... a lot of people always think of mexico as poor, but there is an elite group, as well as a growing middle class. i would say mexico is what the US was maybe 100 years ago...where some lived in cities, but a good number worked in fields..

Will Spain react to UK Currency crisis?
5/1/2009 external link
From yesterday's Observer: [quote:cc43280169]More than half of British holiday makers are planning to stay in the UK this summer, with Blackpool and the West Country among the top destinations, according to a report for budget hotel group Travelodge. A survey of 3,500 people found 54% intending to stay put in the UK, with most preparing to head for the coast. Some 13% said they will be visiting Blackpool while 15% said they intended to take a break in the south-west. ...Overseas travel declined by 10.5% in October, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics. Trips by UK travellers to Spain - by far Britain's top tourist destination - fell by 15% last year, Spain's tourism ministry said, and analysts expect that decline to continue this summer.[/quote:cc43280169] The full article is at http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2009/jan/04/uk-holiday-resorts-recession Incidentally, I fall into the 'staying in the UK' category and it looks like we'll be off to Cornwall this summer.
Fly Fishing Holidays

The Middle Fork of the Salmon is world-famous for catch-and-release trout fishing. It is common on our fishing trips for each of our customers to catch 50 fish a day! Nothing super huge but LOTS of fish. You can find out more about our fishing trips at www.IdahoRiverJourneys.com..
Where is the best place to visit in the world?
5/1/2009 external link
I might be a little biased... BUT, I would suggest any multi-day rafting trip. There simply is no better way of seeing a wilderness and a river than floating through it. The Middle Fork of the Salmon is a six-day adventure through the LARGEST designated wilderness area in the Lower 48 (approx size is 2.2 million acres!). To see a place like this you must travel through it, however, due to its legal designation there are no roads. So, your options are to backpack in, fly over, or float down the Middle Fork of the Salmon. Of course, the Grand Canyon is nice too, as is the Main Salmon (2nd deepest canyon in the US), and Hells Canyon of the Snake River (deepest canyon in the US)..

We use Facebook and have found it being an excellent avenue for traffic to our website. By creating a a business page you can have "fans" sign up and receive updates from your business. Really a nice way of staying in touch with people. Certainly, from a business perspective the pros outweigh the cons..
