More time would be needed to see NYC properly however. You can stay in Times Square. The Doubletree is very nice and this will put you right in the middle of one of the places you want to see. To get to the rest you will have to walk a lot, use a taxi (getting more expensive all the time) or use the subway -- not a bad as some people try to make out. I recommend that you walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Then you can walk back or take a ferry back. The Empire State Building and Top of the Rock (at Rockefeller Center) are both good ways to get a view of the city from on high.
